Being that our studio is downtown Los Angeles, it’s always a treat to ride around on the moped to make deliveries in the neighborhood. Yesterday found me riding through town with a bright, cherry red balloon with turquoise fancy frill billowing and dancing in the wind. The birthday boy certainly felt special and was absolutely delighted- hooray!- but I do think I got at least ten honks and whistles down the streets, so it was a success for my self esteem as well. Afterward, I stopped by Bottega Louie for a few macarons. They have the most vibrant macaron colors– quite a punch compared to the more classic standard set by Ladurée in Paris. I could have spent a small fortune just in the confection shop at Bottega Louie. For a moment, I was convinced I was shopping in Paris at Fauchon- their case of pâtes de fruits making my mouth water. In the end, it was the gold leaf over a mint green macaron that finally won my heart! I think everything is better with gold (as you can see from our balloons!
). So, in honor of Bottega Louie’s macarons, I will be making some extra delicious balloon confections today. Stay tuned for a delicious orange balloon we’re working to celebrate the mandarin orange macaron!
